Get to Know Me
I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) based in New York who works with adults and couples. My approach is warm, non-judgmental and trauma-informed. I use techniques that are backed by research. And I specialize in helping people manage symptoms of anxiety, panic, and obsessive compulsive disorder; process uncomfortable or traumatic thoughts and memories; improve regulation of intense emotions; and navigate difficult relationships and career transitions.
I am concerned about the rising politicization of the therapy room in recent years, and I make a point to keep my sessions truly open and nonjudgmental. I welcome inquiries from persons of all walks of life, including individuals who have experienced religious or spiritual trauma.
I am trained in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing (MI), and mindfulness.
After many years spent working in the writing and editing world, I obtained my master's degree in social work from Fordham University in 2019. Since then I have worked in a field-based setting with adults suffering from severe mental illness as well as with individuals, couples, and teens in a private practice setting. In addition to my work as a therapist I continue to write about mental health and relationships, and I am currently pursuing an MA in Theology at the University of Mary.
